The goddess of light
From a place beyond mortal understanding, where gods and goddesses lived among endless realms of divine power, there was Zelvaria, the goddess of light. Her radiance illuminated the heavens themselves, and every divine being knew her as the eternal bringer of beginnings. Yet despite her brilliance, Zelvaria carried a question within her heart that no god could answer.
What was the true meaning of her light?
The other gods saw her power as perfection. Wherever she walked, warmth followed. Wherever her light touched, darkness vanished. But to Zelvaria, it felt incomplete. If her existence was only to shine endlessly, why did she feel so empty within it? Why did her power feel like something unfinished, something waiting to become more than simple creation?
So Zelvaria made a choice no goddess had ever dared to make. She left the divine realm behind and wandered beyond the heavens, seeking to understand herself and the true purpose of her power. She traveled through silent voids untouched by life, through endless spaces where neither time nor memory existed. There was nothing there: no stars, no worlds, no voices, only infinite emptiness.
Nyxus
And in that nothingness, she met Nyxus.
Nyxus was darkness: not cruel, not kind, just absolute. He did not speak, because there was nothing worth answering. He did not feel, because nothing had ever stayed long enough to matter. That was his nature. That was his truth. Until Zelvaria.
She did not arrive with noise or force. When Zelvaria appeared, she became the first presence in that nothingness, a quiet, unwavering light that refused to be erased. When Nyxus consumed, she restored. Where he was silent, she gave meaning. Nyxus tried to devour her, as he had done to all things, but her light did not fade. It returned. Again and again. For the first time, darkness failed. And so Nyxus did something unnatural: he watched.
Zelvaria, the goddess of light, saw him not as destruction, but as something incomplete. She moved closer, not out of defiance, but out of understanding. Her light did not challenge his darkness; it touched it. And in that impossible contact, something neither god was meant to have was born: not war, but love.
The broken world
As they wandered together through the endless void, Nyxus brought Zelvaria to something he had discovered long before her arrival: a broken and abandoned world hidden within the emptiness. It was silent and lifeless, consumed by endless darkness. Nyxus had tried to shape it before, but darkness alone could only swallow and erase. No matter what he did, nothing could remain. The world would always collapse back into emptiness.
But when Zelvaria stepped into it, something changed.
Her light did not erase Nyxus's darkness, and his darkness did not consume her light. For the first time, balance existed. Where he brought endings, she brought beginnings. Where she restored, he preserved. Together, they reshaped the ruined world, not by creating it from nothing, but by giving it what it had always lacked: balance.
Life began to grow. Time finally moved forward. Endings no longer erased meaning; they preserved it. Beginnings no longer endlessly reset existence; they allowed it to continue. The broken world became a realm of rebirth, expansion, and legacy, born from both of them: from his endings and her beginnings, from a love powerful enough to reshape what darkness alone never could.
The naming
And it was Nyxus who gave the world its name.
He named the realm Zelvaria.
Not after himself.
Not after power.
Not as a throne.
But in honor of the goddess he loved.
Through her, the lifeless world he once wandered in darkness became something that could endure. Something alive. Something meaningful.
The name Zelvaria became his eternal devotion:
A remembrance of her light.
A monument to their bond.
A promise that their love would never fade, even if they someday must.
Thus, the world itself became her legacy.
When Nyxus and Zelvaria brought balance to the world, existence bound itself between them. Their distance became the foundation that held reality together.
The exile
When the other gods and goddesses first discovered the world, they also discovered Nyxus.
To them, he was the god of darkness, silence, and endings: powers they believed could only bring fear, chaos, and destruction. While Zelvaria was praised as the bringer of light and life, Nyxus was treated as something dangerous, a shadow that did not belong beside her.
As the world continued to flourish, the gods heard that Nyxus and Zelvaria still wished to remain together despite the risks.
Fear spread across the heavens. The gods believed that Nyxus would one day become the ruin of everything Zelvaria had helped bring to life.
So the gods made a cruel judgment.
Nyxus was exiled beyond the Void, forbidden from ever standing beside Zelvaria again, not because he might destroy the world, but because the gods feared what he represented.
Dusk
Every night, Nyxus watches from afar.
Every dawn, Zelvaria answers with light.
And dusk is where they almost meet.
They are still in love. But their love became the reason the heavens tore them apart forever.
That is why the world of Zelvaria exists: not to unite them, but to give the universe what they never had. A chance to be together, a chance to last, a chance to love without being undone.
And perhaps that is the deepest tragedy of all: they reshaped a world where everything can exist together, except them.
